MARCH 24, 2026
BARCELONA, SPAIN
Dear colleagues,
The EUSOBI is delighted to announce its second course on breast imaging research which will be held one day prior to the European Breast Cancer Conference in the beautiful city of Barcelona.
The course aims to provide beginner and intermediate level researchers in the field of breast imaging, regardless of their background, with sufficient knowledge to advance their careers and help to optimize breast cancer care. However, also more experienced researchers will benefit from the in-depth discussions we expect during the course.
Looking very much forward to seeing you in Barcelona,

About
Course description
Imaging has gained a critical role in all forms of breast related research. This spans the entire process from technology development to validation and clinical implementation, and the entire medical chain from risk prediction and screening to therapy monitoring and follow-up.
For a successful imaging research project, multiple steps are needed: selecting a research topic related to a real clinical need; acquisition of funding; choosing the right study design; definition of endpoints/outcomes measures; appropriate sample size and statistical analysis planning; respecting rules of good clinical and scientific practice; complete and efficient data collection; correct data analysis and interpretation; and publication of results. A multidisciplinary approach and the involvement of all stakeholders such as colleagues, governance, payers, and patients’ advocacy are a relevant issue, starting from the research conception and design phase.
Educational outcome
This course will address and discuss the various steps necessary for the successful conduction of imaging research from the perspective of different partners. The course aims:
- to provide handholds for starting breast imaging related research projects
- to discuss what is needed to proceed from getting started to getting published
- to highlight the importance of a multidisciplinary approach
- to enable implementation of research and results in practice
