Please find below the overview, which will be updated in the next weeks. Kindly note, all workshops will take place in MECC and are free of charge for EUSOBI 2026 delegates. An active registration to the EUSOBI Annual Scientific Meeting 2026 is required for workshop participation.

Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT) is widely used for breast cancer screening in the USA, typically with single reading. In many European countries, double reading is standard, raising the question of whether artificial intelligence (AI) can replace one of the human readers. A pioneering team in Uppsala, Sweden, has successfully integrated 3D AI into their routine workflow and will share their experiences during this hands-on workshop. Participants will have the opportunity to review a variety of clinical cases demonstrating the use of 3D AI as a second reader for DBT screening in a clinical setting. The course facilitator will share insights from daily practice with AI-supported screening, and attendees will benefit from interactive discussions in a collaborative learning environment.

Dr. Adnan Duhovic is a distinguished radiologist specializing in mammography and breast health, based in Vienna, Austria.Dr. Duhovic underwent extensive radiology and nuclear medicine training at the Medical University of Vienna. He has held key roles, including specialist in radiology at Klinik Hietzing and independent practitioner at Diagnosezentrum Liesing and Röntgen Goldenes Kreuz. Since January 2023, he has been a pivotal member of Wiener Radiologie and Röntgen Goldenes Kreuz, focusing on mammography and breast health. At the Breast Health Center at Privatklinik Goldenes Kreuz, Dr. Duhovic leads efforts in early breast cancer detection and diagnosis, performing mammography and breast ultrasound screenings. He collaborates within an interdisciplinary tumor board to ensure comprehensive, personalized care for patients. Additionally, Dr. Duhovic is a lecturer at FH Campus Wien. His commitment to patient care and interdisciplinary collaboration significantly impacts breast health diagnostics and treatment in Vienna and beyond.

In this interactive, hands-on workshop, participants will build practical, end-to-end proficiency in daily CEM practice — from acquisition through reporting. Guided by experienced breast radiologists, attendees will review recommended CEM protocols and learn to recognize and manage common artefacts that can affect image quality and interpretation. The session will then focus on applying the standardized CEM lexicon during real-time reporting, helping participants identify key imaging features that differentiate benign from malignant lesions and distinguish normal from abnormal enhancement patterns. Through hands-on case review and collaborative discussion, attendees will gain confidence selecting appropriate descriptors and producing clear, consistent reports that support referring clinicians. This practical, case-based approach ensures participants leave equipped to apply protocols, lexicon, and quality control together in routine clinical workflow.

1. Master standardized CEM acquisition protocols to ensure consistent, high-quality imaging in daily practice.
2. Apply the standardized CEM lexicon accurately and confidently during real-time reporting of clinical cases.

Speakers biography:
Dr. Jacopo Nori Cucchiari is a consultant breast radiologist and the Chief of Breast Imaging at Careggi University Hospital in Florence, Italy. He has completed attachments at the Institute Gustave Roussy in Paris, Montpellier University Hospital in France and the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. In addition to breast tomosynthesis and tomo guided biopsies , magnetic resonance imaging and contrast enhanced breast imaging.
In the last two years he has implemented MRI and CEM guide biopsy procedures. Dr Nori’s interests also include cryoablation , radiofrequency and laser ablation of breast lesions and B3 lesion removal with VABB systems (VAE) .
He is an author and co-author of numerous abstracts and publications in national and international journals, as well as two imaging books – one on interventional radiology procedures in senology and the other on mammography of ductogalactographic investigation in senology , and two books about contrast enhanced mammography. 

Dr. Chiara Bellini is a breast radiologist at the University Hospital AOU Careggi in Florence, Italy. An active researcher since 2015, she specialises in multimodality breast radiology, particularly Contrast-Enhanced Mammography (CEM) and Breast Interventional Radiology. Dr. Bellini frequently speaks at conferences in Italy and Europe, focusing on CEM. She has authored several papers, three book chapters on CEM, numerous scientific posters, and presentations.

Dr. Francesca Pugliese is a radiology resident at the University Hospital AOU Careggi in Florence, Italy, where she specializes in the breast imaging unit. An active researcher since she began her residency in 2021, Dr. Pugliese is highly skilled in advanced breast imaging techniques, including Contrast-Enhanced Mammography (CEM), MRI, mammography, and ultrasound. Her expertise also extends to performing interventional procedures, such as biopsies. In this Meet the Expert session, a breast surgeon and a breast radiologist share their experience of putting that approach into practice. They describe how the technique was introduced, what it asked of each specialty, and how separating localisation from the day of surgery changed planning on both sides — followed by open discussion with the audience.

The successful operation of a breast-screening program depends not only on sound planning but also on the integration of diagnostic pathways that swiftly and accurately address positive findings. Once a screening program is underway, attention must turn to the critical phase where lesions are detected and require further assessment. This transition from population-level screening to individualized diagnostic workup demands clear protocols, multidisciplinary coordination, and timeliness to minimize anxiety and optimize outcomes for participants. Navigating this phase involves balancing sensitivity with specificity, ensuring that unnecessary interventions are avoided while prompt care is provided to those at genuine risk. The adoption of standardized reporting systems, such as BIRADS, assists clinicians in categorizing findings and communicating risk, yet also introduces challenges in interpretation and follow-up strategies. The effectiveness of the overall program hinges on how efficiently and reliably these screen-detected abnormalities are triaged, diagnosed, and managed—closing the loop between early detection and definitive care. BIRADS 3 as outcome of a screening assessment is undesirable from a patient’s perspective, costly and inefficient. The management of calcifications will be discussed in depth.

Dr Sharma developed the UK breast screening guidelines for managing high-risk lesions and participates in several clinical trials aimed at minimising overtreatment and supporting risk-adapted screening. She is also engaged in studies involving artificial intelligence in breast imaging. Dr Sharma serves on multiple professional committees, is the audit lead for the British Society of Breast Radiology (BSBR) and plays a key role in the training of radiologists.

Positioning is the foundation of every screening mammogram. When breast tissue is missed or overlapped, cancers can be hidden, and no amount of technology or expert reading can recover what was never captured. Drawing on decades of shaping the training of mammography technologists in the Dutch national screening program, the speaker connects the detail of daily positioning practice to the performance of an entire program. She shares how the training is structured, how quality is monitored and sustained over time, how to make feedback stick, and the practical lessons learned along the way. Participants will leave with a blueprint of concrete, adaptable approaches for strengthening positioning quality in their own screening programs.

Cary van Landsveld-Verhoeven is a leading international authority on mammographic positioning. For decades she shaped the training and quality assurance of the Netherlands’ screening radiographers as Senior Consultant Radiographer at the LRCB, the Dutch Expert Centre for Screening, a role she concluded in 2026. She initiated a European expert group of mammographers, and her work, reaching more than 550 screening radiographers nationally, spanned guideline development, auditing, and research into the link between positioning and image quality. She chaired the biennial Dutch symposium for breast radiographers, has published widely on positioning quality and training, and is the author of a book on mammographic positioning technique. She continues to teach and advise internationally.
